Little Red Hen
admin on: Reception
7th October 2020
What a busy day we have had continuing to look at The little Red Hen!
On the painting table, we created hens using our hands! We painted our hands brown and red then pressed it down on the paper with our fingers spread out. This made the body then we added detail using yellow paint.
On the cutting and sticking table, we used different shades of brown and red to make a collage of a hen. We used cellophane, card and tissue paper.
In maths we were recognising and understanding the numbers 1, 2 and 3. We played different games where we had to get into different groups depending how many claps we heard and which number we saw.
How much fun we have had subitising and making hens today!

Wednesday 30th September 2020
What a busy and exciting day we have had today continuing to look at our feelings. We have been looking at the book The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas. The children have used their fine-motor skills following patterns on the different monsters and have created their own monsters on the painting and cutting and sticking table.
In maths, we have been sorting and matching buttons. The children chose different ways to group the buttons. Some chose to group them by size, colour and the number of holes in the middle of the buttons.
On the cutting and sticking table, the children used different coloured paper to create their very own monsters. They had to use scissors to make arms, legs, eyes and other features they wanted on their monsters before sticking them together with glue. How friendly they all look!
In painting, the children used different brushstrokes and blended colours together to make their own creations.
What a monster-tastic day we have had today!

Hello Reception Class Autumn week 3
admin on: Reception
We had great fun in the woods using natural materials in the woods to make 'people'.
Food faces. Thank-you to those parents who have paid a voluntary contribution towards our cooking activities. We have a student starting with us next week who will be cooking/baking with children every week.
Well hello everyone,
The children have had a super time getting to know each other, ourselves and our school rules over the last couple of weeks and we now feel they are all settled and ready for the start of their learning journey.
Your child's learning journey is a long one (14 years and maybe more!) so please don't put pressure on your-self or your child if they are working at a different level to other at this time. I believe everyone has their own super powers and our system does not always celebrate aspects such as creativity, kindness, resilience and communication which as just some of the powerful skills we need to have as a nation to progress. Education is very individual journey and your child will make progress and develop when they are physically an emotionally ready.
Just enjoy this new school experience together and support your child in the ways they need. Most days it will be a big hug and a story.
We are always here to help so an email; reception@netherthongprimary.co.k
or phone call or pop in at the end of the day is easier for a quick chat.
Thank-you
Mrs Oddy, Mrs Hemimgway and Miss Hemimgway.

I can't believe that we have made it! What a year it has been full of surprises! We have had a dino-tastic week in school learning about different dinosaurs, den building and even having socially distanced visits from Matilda and Xander! On behalf of the whole Reception Team, we would like to thank every single parent, carer and of course the children for their hard work, determination and dedication throughout the whole year! You have made us all very proud to say we have been your teachers!
We managed to get a socially distanced class photo when Xander and Matilda came to visit ...
Here are just a few photos to show you what we have been up to during the week ...
We have been doing lots of art with Rob Biddulph so if you would like to have a go, here is the link ...
