Well from all us who work with your children in the Reception class this year, we just want to say a massive thank you for all you support at home this year.
It has been a year not like any other with much of our communication via 'Teams' and email.
Your children have been so resilient and have coped with all the change that has taken place. They have worked really hard and I am proud of all their achievements. I am looking forward to hearing how they all get on throughout their years at Netherthong primary school.
We have been looking at maps this week and the children have really enjoyed this skill.
We also had a super time building our own 'dens'.
We also managed a walk to Old Fields play park early Thursday morning as our special out of school trip!
A few pictures of them are below.
Have a super summer and keep with all those important skills!
Best wishes,
The Reception Team 2020-2021!

Well we have travelled Europe this week visiting Spain, Italy and France.
We have had a lovely time trying some food from these countries such as pizza's and gelato from Italy and crepes and croissants from France. We thought about how we got there, we went on a plane to Italy, a boat to Spain and the channel tunnel to France. In Italy we made our own leaning tower of Pisa and in Science we made our own volcano erupt using bicarbonate of soda, red food colouring and vinegar like Mount Vesuvius. In forest school we made boats out of natural materials and tested them in the water tray.
We learnt how to say hello to each other and had a go at counting to 10 in each language.
Here are a selection of photos of our week.

We have been on an animal hunt this week looking at all different classifications of animals; reptiles, mammals and birds.
We also learnt about how some animals are endangered and need to be protected or the will become extinct!
In the woods we made some camouflage head pieces and had good fun playing hide and seek in the long grass.
During cooking time we made our own sandwiches and tasted beef (mammal) chicken (bird) and Tuna (fish), of course we had it with our healthy home grown lettuce.
Number this week we were looking at teen number and number patterns all the way to 100!
Can your child count on from 6,15,55,74.
Can they count back from 8,11,42,68,100

We are explores!
What a interesting week looking at insects and mini beasts.
We have looked at their different features such as all insects have 6 legs. We have studied the life cycle of frogs and caterpillars. We are waiting to see if our African snails lay eggs!!
In our number work we have been looking at odd and even number and what makes an odd number odd?
We have made some fabulous snail collages pictures influence by Henri Matisse the French artist who experimented with cut out
shapes to make pictures.
Finally we got to taste some of our home grown lettuce. We made our own bread rolls too!
Next week we are looking at classification of animals . Look on ‘Teams’ for some short clips to watch.
